Since 1987, Mountain Rose Herbs has provided customers and retailers with high-quality essential oils, organic herbs, spices, teas, educational material, face and body care products.
Rosemary Gladstone began the one-woman Mountain Rose Herbs company as a means of supplying her students at the California School of Herbal Studies with organic products. Through the years, the Mountain Rose Herb company has expanded while retaining its strict policies of ethical wild harvesting and signature green philosophy. By 2010, Mountain Rose Herbs moved to its current location in Eugene, Oregon.
In addition to building firm relationships with farmers and suppliers, Mountain Rose Herbs runs 14 organic farms. Suppliers must submit pre-ship samples that undergo comprehensive testing in Mountain Rose Herbs’ laboratory. Before botanicals are admitted to the facilities, they are again sampled and tested by the laboratory.
Mountain Rose organics has been awarded a range of certifications and awards, including: Non-GMO Project Verified, USDA Certified Organic, Earth Kosher, Oregon Tilth Certified Organic, EarthShare, Fair For Life, Carbon Fund, Zero Waste Facility, U.S. Zero Waste Business Council, and certified Salmon-Safe.
Mountain Rose Herbs has also converted to 100% renewable energy and was given the 2013 ‘Best Green Businesses to Work for In Oregon’ award. Mountain Rose Essential Oils
The Mountain Rose Herbs essential oils collection is 100% pure and most are USDA certified organic. The large farm-to-bottle Mountain Rose oils selection provides one of the largest collections of essential oils that can be used for aromatherapy, high-quality hair and skin care, soaps, and natural cleaning formulas.
There are several different forms of Mountain Rose essential oil products, including single oils, aroma oil blends, mists and hydrosols. Hydrosols are also known as ‘flower waters’ and are created by distilling the leaves, flowers, fruits, and other parts of botanicals. Hydrosols have similar therapeutic characteristics as essential oils; however, they are less concentrated. Compared to their essential oil counterpart, the scent imparted by a hydrosol is softer and subtler.
Some of Mountain Rose Herbs newer additions include Mountain Rose Herbs rosehip seed oil, Mountain Rose Herbs jojoba oil, and Mountain Rose Herbs thieves oil. Mountain Rose Herbs rosehip seed oil is made from the ripened fruit of the rosehip, contains essential fatty acids, and can be used in recipes for dry and mature skin care.
Mountain Rose Herbs jojoba oil is a liquid wax rather than oil, and comes from the bean of the Simmondsia chinensis plant. Jojoba oil is a favored carrier oil because of its excellent absorption, mild aroma and long shelf life.
Mountain Rose Herbs thieves oil is a blend rosemary, cinnamon, lemon, clove and eucalyptus essential oils.
